Black Magic broke new ground when they released their first iteration of the HyperDeck Shuttle. It provided uncompressed recording with support for SDI and HDMI signals all in a very small package and all for under $350. Only downside was the fact that uncompressed files can be very, very large.
Version 2 of the HyperDeck includes all the features you’ve come to know and love but with the additional ability to record to Avid’s DNxHD compressed codec. This keeps file sizes a great deal smaller while still offering more flexibility than the built in codec of most cameras.
