Given the fact that the xa 10 is a great camcorder, if you have to choose between the 5D mark II and the XA 10 which one will you will pick up and reason why
They are both dramatically different cameras. I own both and would still own both if I had to choose again. If I could only afford one, I would decide what my main form of shooting would be. If I was shooting events, weddings, action films, etc. then I would choose the XA10. If I was shooting narratives, interviews, artistic films, etc. then I would go with the 5D MkII.
Thank you Tony for your honest answer, I am a photographer and for the past two years I started to shoot wedding/events with a PD170 Sony 3CCD camcorder, I want to move on with a HD unit, and after watching your review on both cameras I want to get rid off this Sony unit and get a more update camcorder. I will go get an HV40 for tape and get an AX 10 for SDxc card. Thanks
Why would you choose 5D for interviews? I thought recording needs to be restarted every time it reaches the 4gb file size limit, where the XA10 just starts a new file right away. Is that correct? I’m actually looking to buy one of the two and that leaning towards XA10 because of that.
Is the VL7 a good external monitor for the XA10?
