There is a camera that has been circling video blogs for the past few days now. It is the Digital Bolex and it boasts the ability to shoot 2K RAW video with a planned price of under $3300. Their Kickstarter campaign has grown rapidly and already reached over 250% of their goal with two weeks to go.
The camera looks to offer a unique “vintage” look, similar to the analogue version of its namesake. I anticipate that it will be a great option for period or stylized work but will it be a replacement for your HDSLR?

Considering everything these days requires rigs and setups, I don’t see why this form would be practical for the shooter of today. Maybe my HDSLR mindset is narrow and I’m not from the era of Bolex cameras, but I think the design of the hardware needs to fit today’s serious filmmakers. That being said, the footage looks really nice.Â
I wonder why there is not even one single picture of the product on their site. Does it really exists? Is there any advantage of s16mm over fullframe 35mm equivalent?
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
