We didn’t make it to the FCPUG SuperMeet Tuesday night since we had a ton of editing to do, but our friend Koo from NoFilmSchool was there and live blogged his impressions of Apple’s announcement.  It seems like Apple is trying to set themselves up as the NLE of choice for the average shooter by bringing in a version of FCP for under $300.  Finally adding 64 bit processing and background rendering is a welcome but expected addition. Also support for native DSLR and AVCHD codecs without transcoding is an important feature that Apple implemented. The new redesigned interface was well received and will hopefully improve the user experience.
