I didn’t think much of the T3i until I held one in my hand. I still think the 60D is the best choice for a serious shooter. Although if the funds arenâ€™t there, or you can put up with limited ISOs and WB this is the camera for you.

The many uses of gaffer’s tape

After getting tons of emails and comments about the green tape seen on my gear, I have decided its time I share my uses of gafferâ€™s tape.

Gafferâ€™s tape is a strong adhesive tape that does not leave a sticky residue when used. It is also heat resistant. I have come to swear by the stuff, and wanted to share how I use it as a camera operator.

Use Canon FD Lenses for DSLR Video

FD lenses are old manual Canon lenses that became almost completely obsolete by the EOS mount Canon cameras. What is so great about these lenses is their crazy low price. I picked up 3 lenses (50mm F1.8, 135mm F2.8, 80-200mm F3.9) for $50 on ebay.

$20 Shoulder Rig for Video DSLR Shooting

Remove Fluorescent Light Banding from DSLR Footage

In this episode I show you how to remove those nasty brown horizontal band lines from your footage. These lines can sometimes show up when shooting under florescent lights and create a really bad effect.

But this can be mostly removed using FCP’s “Limit Effect” tool built into the “3 Way Color Corrector.”
